Central station operators at Security ONE can view the status of alarm systems, security cameras, smoke and fire detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, flood and water sensors and a variety of other security tools in real-time. This information can be used to relay important details to property owners in order to reduce crime and keep properties safe. Station operators can also conduct real time visual and audio communication with the location and are able to remotely assist in trouble situations and even help responding authorities while they investigate.

Security ONE’s Monitoring Station also allows for video verified response. In the case of an alarm or trouble condition, central station staff can access live video from security cameras in order to specifically determine what is taking place at the property. This lets the staff verify alarms and reduce situations where emergency authorities respond to false alarms. It also lets staff understand more about the situation that is taking place so that they can relay these crucial details to the authorities. This can help them respond to the situation in the most appropriate manner.

  • Benefits Of Monitoring

    Benefits Of Monitoring

A recent Statscan report shows there were 200,000 break-ins in Canada, or 15% of all property related crimes. 61% of all break-ins in 2010 were residential; 28% were commercial. But, why is monitoring a security system important?

    1. Home Automation
    • Security systems are have come a long way in the last few years. They can be fully integrated with your lights, thermostat, & door lock creating a fully Connected Home.

    2. Energy Management
    • With a Connected Home, a security system can put your utilities into energy management mode. That helps you to go green by reducing your carbon footprint.
    3. Save Money on bills
    • When your utilities are managed through automation, home owners can see a saving of up to 20% on the bills over the course of a year.
    4. Save On Home Owner’s Insurance
    • Most insurance companies offer a discount between 5%-20% on homeowners insurance for houses equipped with monitored security systems.
    5. Door Chimes
    • Even when you are home and the system is off, it will inform you when a door a window opens with a little dinging sound. The kids can’t sneak out. Their friends can’t sneak in. And if the family pet nudges a door open you will know right away.

    6. Life Safety
    • Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and flood sensors are an integral part of your home security protection.
    7. Real Time Check-In
    • Security systems can let you log on from anywhere and see exactly what’s going on in your home as a “nanny cam”, to check on your pets while you’re at work, or arm and disarm remotely.
    8. Protect your belongings
    • Whether you are traveling on vacation, at the cottage, or simply at work for the day, know that your home is secure with a monitored security system.

    • Having an alarm system in place will help you to rest easy knowing that your home and loved ones are better protected.
    10. Monitoring
    • If your alarm goes off, the monitoring service will alert the proper authorities or dial a list of numbers that you have supplied them to make sure everything is okay.

  • Apartment And Condo Security

    Apartment And Condo Security

Contrary to popular belief, apartments and condos are common targets for criminals

It’s easy to think that living in an apartment or condo means that you don’t have to worry about security. Nothing could be further from the truth. Apartments and condos are repeatedly targeted by criminals. What makes it easy for criminals is that people living in apartments and condos don’t dedicate enough resources to security, so once a criminal gets inside a building, he knows that it will be fairly easy to break into and rob multiple units.

Breaking and entering is one of the most common offences in Canada. On average, there is one break-in every three minutes in Canada.

Here are some crucial tips that will help you prevent apartment and condo crime.

    • When you move into a new apartment or condominium unit, change your locks.
    • Securely lock your doors and windows when you’re not at home. Especially if you live on the ground floor or have a balcony.
    • When you’re entering your building make sure that no one sneaks in behind you.
    • Some condos and apartments come with alarm systems installed. Be sure to use it. A home with a monitored security system is three times less likely to broken into.
    • If your unit doesn’t have an alarm system, you should seriously consider getting one. Wireless alarm systems are easy to install and can further protect you against fire and water damage.

    2014 Dinner To Remember

Security ONE was proud to be a sponsor of the 2014 Dinner To Remember in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Kim Willis, Senior Manager of Fund Development & Community Engagement, says the special evening that honoured three families. “The evening was a great success, raising over $8000 in support of the bereavement programs at the CMHA Windsor-Essex County Branch,” she said.

Last year, CMHA-WECB counselled over 700 adults and children. The bereavement programs receive little government funding, so Security ONE was thrilled to play a part in this inspirational event.
