  • Stay Ahead Of Criminals

    Stay Ahead Of Criminals

More and more, we’re hearing of criminals cutting phone lines before breaking into homes. Criminals are doing this because they think that if there is a security system in place, that there is a good chance it is using a phone line to communicate its signals back to a monitoring station. They think think that by cutting the phone line, and disrupting the communication signal they can break in with the authorities being notified.
Now you can stay one step ahead of the criminals.

    cut

Adding a cellular module to your monitored security system will keep you ahead of criminals because it does not rely on the phone service provider nor the actual, physical line coming off the pole and into your home. The cellular module transmits directly to the central monitoring station using its own cellular airtime. No lines to cut. No communication disruption.

    Local-Monitoring

Bonus reason to install a cellular module: Your security system no longer relies on your phone provider’s service. If you’re like most people, your whole family is on some sort of smart phone. If you’ve ever considered eliminating your landline phone service to save some money, adding a cellular module will allow you to do just that.

  • Phone Line Vs Cellular Module

    Phone Line Vs Cellular Module

Do you still use your landline home telephone? Do you and the everyone else in the household have a smartphone? Now may be the time you’ve been thinking of elliminating your landline altogether

    1. Not Relying On Another Company

If you’re using a landline to transmit the signal of your security system, you’re relyng on the your phone provider’s service to communicate. With a Cellular Module, you’re security system is now transmitting to the Central Monitoring Station directly. That’s not just smarter, that’s safer.

    1. Not Relying On A Physical Line

Speaking of safer, and smarter, when you use a Cellular Module to transmit the signal of your security system, you are no longer relying on a line, coming off a pole that can be cut – accidentally or on purpose. Criminals are begining to cut phone lines to bypass security systems more and mre.

    Local-Monitoring

    1. You can get rid of your land line

If you don’t use your landline anymore and are thinking about ditching it, your alarm monitoring can continue uninterrupted with a cellular module. It will transmit to our Central Station directly, without relying on another company’s service or an actual line coming off the pole and into your home.

  • What Burglars Want You To Keep Doing

What Burglars Want You To Keep Doing

Are you leaving hints about what valuables you have when you’re not home?
When it comes to protecting your home, there a few things to do that seem obvious: Locking your doors when you leave, setting your security system at night. But there are some things that burglars with even the lowest IQ’s just don’t want you figure out.

    visitor management

    1. Let them in

Letting delivery men into your home for deliveries usually isn’t necessary. Criminals sometimes moonlight as robbers after scoping out your home. This may not be the case most of the time, but if you must let them in, demand to see ID.

    1. Let then use the bathroom

If a service worker you don’t know asks to use your bathroom, it’s best to learn to say no. Its very easy to unlock your window to get in later.

    1. Only lock the front door

Your back door, second story windows, and window above the kitchen sink are all practical openings into your home. Protect them, too.

    1. Leave your alarm system in plain sight

When installing your alarms, make sure the keypad or control box can’t be seen from the outside. You don’t want burglars to see if you’ve forgotten to arm it.

    1. Answer the door for strangers

When a stranger knocks asking for directions, they could be testing your vulnerability or scoping out your home. It’s not a crime to ignore your doorbell.

    1. Use a front porch flowerpot

Burglars of all I.Q. levels will know to look under doormats, flowerpots, garden pebbles, and so on for a house key. Leave your spare with a trusted neighbor or friend.

    safecracker_hi

    1. Leave out your kids’ toys

That shiny new bike you saved up to buy for your kid’s birthday could lure burglars to your house, because it indicates more shiny things inside.

    1. Reveal your new purchases

When you purchase new electronics or high ticket items, make sure the packaging isn’t proudly displayed on the curb. Let your friends or neighbors know your got a new Smart TV, not burglars.

    1. Brag about vacation

Don’t let everyone on social media know that you’re taking an extravagant tropical vacation for three very long weeks. You don’t know who’s looking, so just post some #tbt photos when you’re back home instead.

    1. Open the shades

Sunset are beautiful, but when it starts to get dark outside and all your lights are on, burglars can scope out your most valuable items.

    1. Leave out your ladders and tools

Even if you’re going to be back out in the yard early in the morning, put your tools away. Don’t make it easy for burglars to break in with own tools.

  • Home Security Assessment Checklist

    Home Security Assessment Checklist

A home security assessment is essential to find weaknesses in your security plan, making it more difficult for criminals to break in.

This checklist is designed to help you identify weak spots in and around your home.
While nothing is “burglar-proof”, these recommendations help create layers of security that can reduce the opportunity for criminals to force entry into your home.

Use this checklist to reduce any security weaknesses around your home, then make the necessary changes.

Business man with check boxes over navy blue background

Make sure your house numbers are visible from the street, or applied to your mailbox properly to help emergency responders find your home.

Prune all shrubs & trees away from the sidewalks, driveway, porch, doorway windows and gates to eliminate hiding places.

Trim or prune any bushes under a window below the sill. Again, this eliminates places to hide.

Prune any tall bushes from the ground up to expose any feet or legs from hiding.

Cut or prune tree branches upward at least 6 ft. to keep a clear view both onto and out of your property

Make sure you have proper lighting at the front, rear and side of the house. Mount any motion activated lights under the eaves trough to reduce vandalism.

Privacy fences are nice, but keep in mind they provide privacy for burglars as well. Be sure a privacy fence is not easy to scale, and if possible, lock the gate.

Doors should have a solid core with deadbolt locks and guard plates to hinder prying.

  • Alternatives To Landlines

    Alternatives To Landlines

When the recent break in at the Kingsvlle Arena, where thieves cut the phone to defeat the security system, caused Town officials to turn to Security ONE to provide a solution, we wanted to be sure we could provide that same solution to home owners as well.
That same solution may also allow you to cut your landline telephone as well, saving you hundreds of dollars a year.

    kingsville1
